EASL aims to support Young Investigators and helps them to attend The International Liver Congress™ by providing bursaries to cover travel and accommodation costs. Scientists with an excellent abstract that is accepted for presentation at the meeting will be considered for support.

EASL offers 2 types of bursaries (full and registration bursaries) to the presenting authors only of the best accepted abstracts who are aged 35 or under (as of 11 April 2019) or are still in training.

The application is available during the abstract submission process, to anyone fulfilling the above criteria, without geographical restrictions.

The presenting authors of the 200 best scored abstracts will be awarded a bursary of EUR 650.00 each. This bursary will be handed out after the congress. In addition, the registration fees to the congress will be waived and all bursary recipients will receive one year’s free EASL membership. The membership credentials will be communicated after the congress.

The abstract submission fee of EUR 50 (no VAT) is not refunded if you are awarded a bursary.

An additional 200 presenting authors will have their registration fees waived. All bursary recipients will receive one year’s free EASL membership. The membership credentials will be communicated after the congress.

Bursaries conditions

The payment of the YI bursaries to presenting authors will be processed after the congress. In order to verify physical presence on-site, poster presenters need to check-in before noon at the poster help desk each day for each poster presentation.

A passport, driving license or other recognised identification document will be requested to verify your identity.

Bursary requests can only be during the abstract submission process via the abstract submission platform. Requests received after abstract submission deadline, 21 November 2018, will not be considered.

The name of the presenting author must match the name of the applicant. EASL will only grant the above-mentioned bursaries to the presenting authors who attest that they are not being sponsored or financially supported by any other source in order to attend The International Liver Congress™ 2019.

One of the following supporting documents must be uploaded in English during the abstract submission process.

  • Proof of age: a clear copy of your ID, passport or driver’s license indicating your date of birth

OR

  • Proof of trainee status: a letter signed by the head of department on the department’s letterhead confirming that you are a trainee

EASL will automatically decline all bursary requests that do not conform to the above terms.
Applications will not be considered if all required documents are not uploaded before the 21 November 2018 (23:59 CET) (extended deadline).

Congress registration for bursary applicants

Confirmed bursary applicants will receive a personal code to be entered during the registration process in order to benefit from complimentary registration.
